LIFE IN THE ANNEX

• The annex was cramped because there was little space
• If you made noise the workers might hear you
• There was a lot of fighting

THE ARREST

• Everyone gets arrested
• They get found because an anonymous caller tells the nazi police
• Otto is the only one that returns.

Otto goes back to Amsterdam to hear about the deaths of his family

THE GERMAN INVASION

• Germany occupies the Netherlands
• Otto tries to flee to America
• Germans make Jews have strict laws
