PRESENTATION OUTLINE

FUNGI AND PROTISTA KINGDOMS

CHARACTERISTICS

OF THE FUNGI KINGDOM

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FUNGI KINGDOM

  • Fungi are heterotrophs. They can obtain nutrients by absorption.
  • Fungi cell walls are made up mostly of the carbohydrate chitin.
  • They are multicellular organisms.
  • They are non-vascular organisms.
  • They are all Eukaryotic.

CHARACTERISTICS NOT OF THE FUNGI KINGDOM

  • Fungi are NOT autotrophic.
  • Fungi cell walls are NOT made of cellulose.
  • Fungi are NOT unicellular.
  • Fungi are NOT vascular organisms.
  • Fungi are NOT prokaryotic.

PROTISTA CHARACTERISTICS

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROTISTA KINGDOM

  • Mostly unicellular, although some, such as algae, are multicellular
  • Can be heterotrophic or autotrophic
  • They are all Eukaryotic
  • Most live in water, but some live in damp soil or the human body.
  • Some protista move a lot, while some move very little.

CHARACTERISTICS NOT OF THE PROTISTA KINGDOM

  • Most are multicellular
  • Prokaryotic
  • Most live on land
  • Live in dry soil
  • Cannot live in the human body.
