CAUSES OF CONFLICT

  • Sudan conflict began because of political control
  • A General took over Sudan with military power
  • The citizens of Sudan didn't like these acts and went against it
  • The farmers or citizens fought back against the military army

THE GROUPS

  • The citizens created two groups to fight against Sudan
  • The Sudan Liberation Army and the Justice Equality Movement
  • The Sudan government then unleashed Arab Militias to fight back
  • The Arab soldiers attacked many villages throughout Sudan
  • The Arab militias were also known as Janjaweed

RESULTS

  • About 400,000 lives were lost during the battles
  • About 100 people die everyday and 5 thousand a month
  • The Sudanese government still continues to disclaim that they know the Janjaweed
