JOHN WINTHROP

• John Winthrop was chosen to be the governo
• John Winthrop named his colony "city upon a hill"
• He also signed a covenant
• He was from Massachusetts Bay/England

ROGER WILLIAMS

• Roger Williams was from New England
• He was the only one who disagreed with the Puritan leader
• He was against colonists taking land that belonged to the native americans
• He believed the colony should tolerate different religious beliefs
• in 1636 Williams fled Massachusettes

ANNE HUTCHINSON

• Anne Hutchinson was born in England and grew up to be an independant thinker.
