Hi I'm Marco Polo Between 1260-1269 I traveled and traded through The Silk Road and the Gobi desert to reach Mongol cities in China to meet khubilai khan.
We arrived to khanbaliq , the Mongolian capital of China. At first glance, the city installed multiple roads and water systems. But most noticeable was their trading.
By using the Silk Road they traded crops and silk. I also decided to receive acupuncture from their medical schools, it felt amazing! I also viewed the astronomical calendar called shoushili .
I remember one of my expeditions. I first started in Mecca. We prayed 5 times a day, we also performed the hajj since we arrived right on the 7th day of dhualijjah (last month of Islamic year).
We then traveled by night to Najaf, crossing the najd plateau, to visit the mausoleum of Ali. Our plans to go to Baghdad were changed and we made a detour to Persia. We followed the Tigris river and across the zagros mountains leading to Shiraz.
We later advanced to Tabriz, there we saw the silk road. Missionaries and countless merchants met up with us, all on the same mission to convince us to buy their idea or product.
