WHAT IS A AIRPLANE?

  • An airplane is a heavier than air aircraft kept
  • Aloft by the upward thrust exerted by
  • The passing air on its fixed wings and
  • Driven by propellers, jet propulsion.

THE FIRST AIRPLANE

  • The first airplane was invented
  • By Wilbur and Orville Wright/ Wright
  • BrothersOn December 7th 1903
  • Near Kitty Hawk North Carolina

THE FIRST FLIGHT

  • The first airplane traveled
  • About 10-30 mph and was in the
  • Air for 12 seconds
  • The average speed for aircrafts
  • Today are about 490-554 mph.

THE WRIGHT BROTHERS

  • Wilbur and Orville grew up in
  • Dayton Ohio and became interested
  • In Aviation at a young age
  • (They did not attend college but was
  • Very good at mechanical designs)

  • Orville wright was born
  • August 19, 1871 died January
  • 30, 1948
  • Wilbur Wright was born April 16,
  • 1867 and died May 30, 1912

  • The new model of the airplane
  • Started to come out in 1913
  • (Right after Wilburs death) called
  • The model f plane made for the
  • Wrigth company.

  • Started to come out in early 1920
  • -1930 and they were making war planes

1940

  • In 1941 pearl harbor happend
  • The japense airplane that attacked
  • Us were actually Japanese zero's
  • (Dogfighter) torpedo bombers
  • And dive bombers

  • After the war was over they
  • Started to make transportation
  • Airplanes and boat airplanes

  • To produce transportation
  • Airplanes but a whole lot nicer

  • In the 1970's they started
  • To produce jets
  • To produce jets
