9's time table trick using hands
place all 10 fingers in front of you.
1 X 9 = 9
Count the 1st finger from any side, this represents the imaginary line. Since there is no fingers on one side of the imaginary line the other side should count "9" fingers leaving the answer to equal "9".
2 X 9 = 18
Count the 2nd finger from the same side. This finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there is "1" finger. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "8" fingers. Combine 1 & 8 to create "18".
3 X 9 = 27
Count the 3rd finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "2" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "7" fingers. Combine 2 & 7 to create "27".
4 X 9 = 36
Count the 4th finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "3" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "6" fingers. Combine 3 & 6 to create "36".
5 X 9 = 45
Count the 5th finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "4" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "5" fingers. Combine 4 & 5 to create "45".
6 X 9 = 54
Count the 6th finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "5" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "4" fingers. Combine 5 & 4 to create "54".
7 X 9 = 63
Count the 7th finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "6" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "3" fingers. Combine 6 & 3 to create "63".
8 X 9 = 72
Count the 8th finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "7" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "2" fingers. Combine 7 & 2 to create "72".

Count the 9th finger from the same side, this finger represents the imaginary line. On one side of the imaginary line there are "8" fingers. On the other side of the imaginary finger there are "1" fingers. Combine 8 & 1 to create "81".
