• The Normans were descendants of people who made state on the peninsula of Normandy
• They came from Viking descendants who conquered Normandy
• The feudal system was put in place when William was made king over the vassals

NORMAN INVASION

• William the Conquerer was the Norman leader.
• His strong leadership was the reason they were so successful in England.
• Key Battles: The Battle of Hastings, Stamford Bridge, and Senlac

END

• Normans and Capetians faced much corruption in their courts.
• This was mostly caused by the dukes and their oppression
• The two rival kingdoms were often at odds with each other
• This was mostly caused by Norman attempts at expansion.
