OCTOBER 6, 1851 IN AUSTIN COUNTY, TEXAS

OCCUPATIONS

GUNFIGHTER- UNION FORCE TEXAS TO FIGHT

KILLINGS

  • before he turned 20 he had killed several men.
  • short-tempered, killed for trival reasons
  • killed more than a few men, because they "insulted" him.
  • he murdered a man in cold over a arguement over a card game.
  • he strongly disliked african-americans, they avoided him at all costs.

1ST TRY TO HANG LONGLEY

  • it is belived that Longley was hanged with a horse thief, but an apparent gunfight from
  • a departing posse cut the rope he was on.

WHO HE LIVED WITH

LONGLEY STAYED WITHTHE UTE INDIANS AFTER WAS ALMOST KILLED.

THE CHURCH MURDER

AFTER KILLING THE MINISTER ROLAND LAY, HE FLEED TO LOUISANA.

HE WAS CAPTURED

AND THEY RETURNED HIM TO LEE COUNTY, TEXAS. AND WAS FOUND GUILTY.

HE WAS HANGED.

BUT IT WENT WRONG, AND INSTEAD OF A FAST DEATH, IT WAS SLOW & PAIN.

DIED

11 MINUTES AFTER HE WAS HANGED HE WAS PROUNCED DEAD.
