Ancient Greece was used by soldiers to get ready for war.
Skills and strength was important for battling on the war field.
After the war, they would soon then increase there hours of training.
After they train, they are definitely ready for the war!

GREEK EDUCATION
Gymnastics became a vital component of Greek education.
It was mandatory for students to practice the sport and soon develop into schools.
In school, gymnastics, music and mathematics were all thought and perfected.
The Greek Gymnastics evolved nothing more than military training.

JOHANN FRIEDRICH GUTSMUTH AND FRIDRICH LUDWIG JAHN
They both invented parallel bars, horizontal bars, side house, balance beam and vaulting hourse.
Boys we're thought to perform specific activities on each new invented event.
For this reason, they are now known as the "father of gymnastics".

19TH AND 20TH CENTURIES
In the early 19th century, Gymnastics in the USA was using gymnastics for there own training.
In the 20th century, US army had lists of drills for soldiers to practice.
A culmination of gymnastics built muscles and strengthen young men.
In the beginning of the 20th century, militaries in the world began to focus on different strength.
Gymnastics lost its power as military training and became a respected sport in its own right.

WHEN DID WOMAN PARTICIPATE?
Woman first started to participate on gymnastics events in 1920s.
They were first included to the Olympic Games in 1928.
The first woman Olympic Games was held in Amsterdam.

FIRST OLYMPIC GAMES
The international gymnastics federation was formed in 1891.
5 years later, there was the fist gymnastics modern Olympic Games.
Germany dominated and took home pretty much every medal in the competition.

GYMNASTICS TODAY
Today gymnastics is a very popular sport.
Many children all over the world take lessons each year.
Gymnasts from all over the world go to either nationals or state highlighting gymnasts.
Each gymnast has beauty, balance, grace, ready for practice, speed, flexibility, and great strength.
