WEATHER AND WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT

  • For the American plan to work it had to be a full moon on low tide.
  • It was very stormy on their first scheduled attack so they didn't attack
  • They postponed the attack for three days until the weather was perfect for their attack.

WHY THEY LANDED IN NORMANDY

  • It was strategic
  • America sent a spy to the Nazis saying they would arrive at the east coast
  • So America and UK had a surprise attack search

HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS

  • Most of the soldiers had very heavy backpacks that drowned them
  • The soldiers were coming from a low level and the Nazis were on a hill

THEIR STRATEGY

  • They dressed up some soldiers as Nazis
  • The soldier dressed as Nazis tricked the Nazis to thinking the U.S. soldiers were coming from the northwest.
  • So after that the U.S. soldiers attacked from the north east.

THE BEACHES THEY LANDED ON

  • Utah Beach (America)
  • Omaha Beach (America)
  • Gold Beach (British/America)
  • Juno Beach (British)
  • Sword Beach (British)

CASUALTIES AND TROOPS LAUNCHED

  • US launched 52,892 Troops
  • Britain Launched 112,824 Troops
  • Other Countries Launched 4,988 Troops
  • 425,000 Troops Died (Including Nazis)

Summary Of The War

What happens is the US and British troops toke those beaches and broke through the enemy line, this was vital so that they could push the enemy back and get supplies in for the troops when they were fight, and this was a turning point.
