Sun Moon and Stars

Gravity

  • Gravity is the force of attraction between two objects
  • Issac Newton discovered gravity
  • In black holes gravity is so strong not even light can escape
  • In some places there  is more or less gravity
  • Pluto is the planet with less gravity

Gas Giants

  • The gas giants are Jupiter, Venus, Uranus and Neptune
  • They are made of gas
  • They are inhabitable
  • They don't have a surface
  • They are cold because they are a long distance from the su

Rocky Planets

  • They are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars
  • They are made of rock
  • They are smaller than the gas giants
  • Mercury is the closest planet to the sun
  • Mars maybe had life a long time ago

Kuiper Belt

  • Its an asteroid belt
  • Some Ice on the Kuiper was formed when the solar system was formed
  • Objects that orbit the Kuiper belt are mainly made of rock, ice, ammonia and methane.
  • There is about two trillion comets in the kipper belt
  • There are about 70,000 objects with a diameter over 100 kilometers

Asteroid Belt

  • Objects there are made of rock
  • we know of 7,000 asteroids
  • Gravity can take asteroids out of the belt
  • most of the asteroids are small
  • Asteroids get their names by their discoverers suggestion

Satellites

  • They orbit planets or the sun
  • They are made of rock
  • There moon is a satellite
  • Some planets have more satellites than other planets
  • They are planets or moons

Evaporation

  • Temperature makes water evaporate faster or slower
  • When evaporation happens water turns into water vapor
  • The evaporation goes into the air
  • you can't see evaporation
  • Evaporation is the change of water from liquid to gas

Surface Area

  • Surface area is the area of water touching the air
  • Surface area affects evaporation
  • the surface area is bigger water evaporates faster
  • If the surface area is smaller water evaporates slower

Condensation

  • Condensation happens when water vapor gets on a cool surface
  • Water vapor is needed to get condensation
  • One example of condensation is on your bathroom
  • Condensation is the opposite of evaporation
  • continuos condensation can cause fungus
