Life

  • Born in Argentina in 1899
  • Died in Italy in 1968
  • Influenced an art movement
  • Opened his own studio at a young age
  • Has worked with other great artists

What was Unique?

  • Art style included the violation of the canvas.
  • Questioned the typical Western art on a canvas or paper.
  • Throughout violence, his art remained intact.
  • At times, various odd objects were put in the pierced canvas.

A Theory

  • Fontana established a theory called Spazialisimo
  • Principle: a dynamic form energy should be transformed to invade space
  • Fontana used this theory in the late 1940's and on
  • Various artist joined in on Fontana's movement in art.
