SHERMAN'S MARCH

Sherman's March was from Atlanta to Savannah , it was to scare Confederates out of their cause. Troops were captured in Atlanta, and stopped the railroad from transporting food and supplies to Confederates.

How it affected South Carolina?
They took Colombia(the capital),and burned the capital to the ground.

IMPORTANT FACTS

  • Army included over 60,000 men
  • Burned major cash crops, destroyed buildings
  • Major vandalism to nearby places
  • Started Nov.1864 and ended 1865
