Black Hills (He Sapa)

• "the heart of everything that is" (satellite images confirm the hills form a heart shape)
• Center of the Lakota universe
• Location of ceremonies, burials, vision quests, etc.

Wind Cave

• Place where ancestors emerged

Devil's Tower

• Sacred site for many Plains tribes
• Often a site where tribes held councils
• Lakota made winter camps here as far back as 1816

Sacred Sites of the Holy Land

• Today: Look at the "Via Dolorosa" (Way of Suffering)
• What is the Via Dolorosa? A street in the Old City of Jerusalem that is said to be the path Jesus took while carrying his cross to Golgatha.
