Types of Reactions

  • Synthesis
  • Decomposition
  • Single Replacement
  • Double Replacement
  • Combustion

Balanced Equation

  • A balanced equation is when each side of an equation has the same number of atoms of each element

Law of Conservation of Mass

  • The Law of Conservation of Mass states that mass cannot be created or destroyed, instead it is conserved

Balancing equations

  • predict the products
  • count/compare the number of atoms in the reactants and the products
  • balance using coefficients
  • check each polyatomic ion
  • be sure that the coefficients are in the lowest possible ratio
