PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Roots
The Journey to make its own food for the plant starts in the roots. The roots are in the soil and are branched out for better stability and to look for water and minerals in a wider range.Roots absorb the water and minerals in the soil and transport the water through xylem vessels the stem.
Root Hair Cells
Root hair cells allow the plant for a larger surface area of water to be aborbed. It collects the water.
Stem
The stem comes straight after the roots, it is already above soil. The stem also contains xylem tissue to transport the water to the leaves, but it also has phloem which transports dissolved food to the rest of the plant.
Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is a green pigment that makes leaves look green. What it does is it captures sunlight in order to help photosynthesis; as a plant needs sunlight, carbon dioxide and water in order to photosynthesis.
Leaves
As photosynthesis takes place in leaves, leaves have to be adapted to help carry out this process. Some ways that leaves are adapted to make their own food is by having a large surface area to capture more sunlight, they contain chlorophyll, they grown in large numbers to provide food for the plant and they also grown in patterns that do not overlap each other so like that each leaf can capture enough sunlight.
Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is the chemical reaction between carbon dioxide which the plants takes out of the atmosphere, water that it gets via the roots and the sunlight that the chlorophyll captures. When photosynthesis takes place, oxygen is released into the atmosphere and glucose is made.As plants are living organisms, they respire. They use the glucose for respiration.
