• Milton Obote became prime minister

• Tido Okello took power in 1985 through military coup
• 1986: Yoweri Museveni (NRA) seized Kampala and was declared Pres.

HOLY SPIRIT MOVEMENT

• Alice Lakwena formed the group because she claimed the HS to claim the gov.
• She wanted better treatment for the northern Acholi people
• Lakwena was exiled after battle with the Ugandan Gov. and later died

LORDS RESISTANCE ARMY

• Joseph Kony claimed to be Lakwenas cousin and took over in 1986
• He lost support and became abducting 1000s of kids for his army
• Kids were used as soldier, sex salves, and forced labor

PRESENT STAGES OF GENOCIDE

• Classification: Acholi tribe is mainly being targeted
• Polarization: radical ideas to base the gov. by the ten commandments
• Extermination: Kony kills anyone in his way
