PRESENTATION OUTLINE
CICONES
Odysseus & his men arrive at the land of the cicones. They kill most of the men of the land but some stay alive. The people who stayed alive get there army and go after Odysseus and his men.
LOTUS EATERS
Odysseus and his men go to the land of the lotus eaters. Lotus is a sweet flower and if you eat it it makes you comfortable with your surroundings and you don't want to ever leave. Odysseus gathers his men and they quickly leave.
CYCLOPES
The men and Odysseus are very curious so they go to the land of the Cyclopes. The Cyclopes are one headed giant creatures who feast off of men. They get trapped in one of the caves with a Cyclopes so they stab his eye. They get away with it because Odysseus tells Polyphemus that his name is nobody. They get out of the cave eventually by attaching themselves under Polys sheep.
ISLANDS OF AEOLUS
Aeolus, god of winds, gives Odysseus a bag of bad winds to help him get home safely. His crew disobeys orders and opens the bag.
LAESTRYGONIANS
Giant cannibals that eat all of the ships but Odysseus's.
ISLAND OF CIRCES
They were told their fate when they landed on the island of Aeolus
ISLAND OF THE DEAD
He tries to learn his destiny by going to the island of the dead from seresias. Circes tells him that he had to bring Teresias from the dead. Teresias then says he will have many dangers But if he's cautious he will make it home.
CIRCES ISLAND
Odysseus receives warning about three obstacles he's about to face.
SIRENS
The sirens sing & it puts you under the spell where you sail your ship towards the mountain making you crash and causing you to die. No one has heard the sound before but they make a plan so that Odysseus can hear it. They tie him to the ship pole and fill the other men's ears with beeswax. The men untie Odysseus when the sound goes away.
SCYLLA AND CHARYBIS
Scylla is a six headed beast in the sea who feasts on men, and Charybdis is another beast that sucks in and spits out the water causing huge huge tides. When you go in between them you're bound to die. Odysseus loses 6 of his best men to Scylla.
SUN GOD
If you kill the sun gods precious cattle then he punishes you severely. Odysseus said he didn't want his men to kill the cattle but the gods out him under a trance and they end up killing the cattle to eat it. This end up with the men eventually them dying as the punishment.
CALYPSOS ISLAND
Calypso keep Odysseus with her on her island for seven years. The god Hermies told Odysseus that it was time to leave after all that time.
THE LAND OF THE PHAECIANS
They find Odysseus and throw banquet for him where he says I am Laraties son.
