HEMOPHILIA

Definition
Any of several hereditary blood-coagulation disorders in which the blood fails to clot normally because of a deficiency or abnormality of one of the clotting factors.

Occur
Hemophilia is considered a rare disease. It is estimated that 20,000 people in the United States have hemophilia.

Treatment
Today, with proper treatment, life expectancy for people with hemophilia is about 10 years less than that of males without hemophilia.
