GERMANYS INVOLVEMENT IN THE COLD WAR
Germany was divided into four zones of Allied military occupation: American, French, British, and Soviet.
During the Cold War, Germany became the center for all the tensions between Democracy and Communism
The end of World War Two left Russia in possession of all of Germany up to 300 miles west of Berlin.
The Berlin Blockade began in mid 1948 as Russian forces surrounded West Berlin
In 1961, Berlin, the last place through which immigrants could leave East Germany, was blocked by the Berlin Wall

THE END OF THE COLD WAR
The unraveling of the SOVIET BLOC began in Poland in June 1989 with a new government being formed
East and west Germany started tearing down the Berlin Wall in 1889
Many Americans felt they had won the Cold War but others taught no one won
Many people got fed up with the way the Soviet Union was running their country so they had a rebellion
Overall the war cost many lives and lots of money
