GEORGE WASHINGTON

OUR FIRST PRESIDENT
George Washington was our first president from 1789-1796 and he set many precedents such as staying neutral in foreign affairs, also being called Mr. President, finally having a cabinet. Also, an other precedent he set was to serve two terms. George was born on February 22, 1722 and died on December 14, 1799.

JOHN ADAMS

1797-1801
John Adams was born on October 30, 1735 and he died on July 4, 1826. During his time in office there was an affair that came up and it was called The XYZ and that was when the French minister wanted a $250,000 bribe and the French government wanted a $12 million loan.

THOMAS JEFFERSON

1801-1809
Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 and died on July 4, 1826. During his presidency Jefferson bough the Louisiana Purchase from France which doubled the size of the United States.

JAMES MADISON

1809-1817
Madison was born on March 16, 1751 and died on June 28, 1836. In his presidency the war of 1812 occurred. The war happened because of the British navy would put American sailors under impressments and because the British wanted to stop our trade. The treaty of Ghent ended the war in February of 1815.

JAMES MONROE

1817-1825
James Monroe was born on April 28, 1758 and he died on The Fourth of July 1831. Although the name of the document is the Monroe Doctrine the Secretary of State John Quincy Adams wrote it. The Monroe Doctrine stated that any Latin American country that tried to settle on US ground would be seen as an act of aggression.

JOHN QUINCY ADAMS

1825-1829
John Quincy was born on July 11, 1767 and died on February 28, 1848. The American system was when John Quincy Adams decided that he was going to put Americans to work by building federally funded buildings and canals which gave many job opportunities to the people.

ANDREW JACKSON

1829-1837
Andrew Jackson was born on March 16, 1737 and he die died on June 8, 1845The nullification crisis was when the state of South Carolina deemed that tariff of 1828 were unconstitutional and therefore null and void within the sovereign boundaries of the state of South Carolina.
