Great Lakes - Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and Lake Michigan. It's the worlds largest group of freshwater lakes.

Mississippi River - the longest river in the U.S.

Appalachian Mountains - the mountain range that reaches from Canada to Alabama, U.S.

Rocky Mountains - a mountain range that lies in the Western Mountains and Plateau.

Great Plains - the area in which Great Plains/Midwest Indians lived

Harbor - an area for ships to stop

Canyon - a canyon is a deep ravine or gorge with pairs of cliffs

Great Plains Native Americans - lived in tepees, hunted buffalo, and bred horses. They lived in the plains

Northwest coast - had totem poles in front of their house, dugout boats from trees, and went on great whale hunts

Southwest Desert Native Americans - lived in cliff houses, made pottery and wove baskets, grew corn and beans

Eastern Woodlands Native Americans - lived in wigwams and tepees. Lived near a water source, grew corn, beans, squash, pumpkins, sunflowers, and tobacco.

Christopher Columbus - an adventurer who found the Americas.

Ferdinand Magellan - named the Pacific Ocean because it was so peaceful
