WHICH WATER

MEGAN CLAVELL AND CONNOR ELYDRI

PURPOSE

  • Which type of water make plants grow faster and taller?
  • Types of water: carbonated, sugar, salt, and tap water

BACKGROUND

  • We found a experiment that was done and changed it to fit our experiment
  • We also resarched the best types of plants to use: we used grass
  • We also found websites that helped us with our experiment

HYPOTHESIS

  • Megan: tap water will work the best
  • Connor: carbonated water will work the best

MATERIALS

  • Water
  • SUgar
  • Salt
  • Seltzer
  • Mesuring cup, containers, ruler, teaspoon, plastic cups

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN

  • We tested 4 kinds of water: salt, sugar, carbonated and tap
  • We recorded how tall the plants grew and how much growth there was
  • We obeserved the data once every week

  • Week 1:
  • Tap water - 1 and 1/2 inches
  • Carbonated- 1 and 1/2 inches
  • Sugar- 1 inch
  • Salt- did not grow

  • Sugar- 5 and 1/2 inches
  • Salt- 1/2 inches

DATA/ OBSERVATIONS

  • By Week 5:
  • tap and carbonated water- 7 and 1/2 inches
  • Sugar- 6 and1/2 inches
  • Salt- 1 inch

CONCLUSION

  • The tap and carbonated water worked the best
  • The sugar water worked the 3rd best
  • The salt water worked the worst
