WHAT IS STRESS

  • Stress is the reaction of the mind and body to everyday
  • Challenges.

REACTING TO STRESS

  • Stress can be good or bad
  • Good= it can motivate you
  • Bad= when it interferes with your ability to perform

CAUSES OF STRESS

  • Stresser= anything that causes stress
  • Can be real or imagined
  • Differes from person to person

YOUR BODYS REACTION TO STRESS

  • First step alarm
  • Second step resistance
  • Third step fatigue

ALARM

  • Your body is on high alert
  • It triggers the flight or fight response
  • Your body decides to run or fight

RESISTANCE

  • Your body adapts to the challenge
  • This lasts for a little or until the stressor is gone

FATIGUE

  • Your body fails to adapt
  • You begin to tire and lose the ability to manage stress

PSYCHOSOMATIC RESPONSE

  • The physical reaction to stress
  • Headaches, weak immune system, high blood pressure, ect.
  • Mental problems can evolve from this
