Koi fish are a type of fish that typically lives in ponds and streams in east Asia. They can adapt to different spots around the world, as long as they are in a pond or stream that has shade, because they get sunburned easily.
Koi fish are also distantly related to goldfish, so they can mate with them. When mating, a koi fish produces about 1,000 eggs, and only about 50% of them survive.
Koi fish can eat multiple things, and they are omnivores. They will eat algae from ponds, underwater plants, and they will also eat smaller fish. Badgers, and other similar animals might eat koi fish for a meal. However, the koi fish's unique pattern might make the animals a bit anxious about eating them.
