Speech

How and When to use Freedom of Speech

While it is clear that students do have freedom of speech, any form of inappropriate use of language online that can be considered harmful, discriminatory/offensive, or unsuitable in relevance to the class room or their peers will result in loss of internet privileges.

Emails and school accounts of students can be checked at any time. And any violations of class, school, or any legal policies will result in the appropriate punishment.

c. If the student has information on any social media or another account that can be traced to them where inappropriate information is found against them, internet privileges will be taken and guardians will be notified.

Personal Use

No online shopping or selling or purchasing services while at school.

Technology cannot be used for political or economic activities

Students cannot post their personal information or anyone else’s (password, location, etc.)

Student cannot go on any form of dating or meeting app where individuals can talk with strangers online. Any evidence of this or messages exchanged individuals should be reported directly.

f. The student may not download any copyrighted materials or engage in other illegal activities.

Privacy

Student’s may not “hack” or get into unauthorized computers or other systems beyond what is allowed to him/her. (For example, accessing another student’s files using their password would count as a breach of this rule). They may not break into systems with the intention to destroy or harm the systems through viruses.

Prior to getting the permission of the sender of the message, students cannot forward private messages

c. Falsifying information or identity is strictly prohibited

Students cannot use computers or systems to access inappropriate sites that can be deemed as illegal, violent, offensive, or discriminatory.
