BY:TYLER CULPEPPER

CARBOHYDRATES

  • ANY ORGANIC COMPOUND THAT IS MADE OF CARBON,HYDROGEN,AND OXGYEN.
  • The monomer is monosaccharide

FUNCTION OF CARBOHYDRATE

  • Source of chemical energy
  • Structural material
  • Provides nutrients to the cell of living things
  • Contains bread,potatoes,and vegetables

PROTEIN

  • An organic compound that is made of one or more chains of amino acids and that is a principal component of all cells. The monomer is amino acid.

FUNCTION

  • Storage and transport Regulatory and movement Structural and enzymes Albumin (egg white) and hemoglobin Hormones and muscles Cellular reactions Contains meats

LIPIDS

  • a large, non-polar organic molecule, including fats and steroids

FUNCTIONS

  • Stores energy Makes up cell membranes Insulation Protection against physical shock Protection against water loss Hormones Major component of membranes Contains butter and oils

NUCLEIC ACID

  • an organic compound, either RNA or DNA, whose molecules are made up of one or two chains of nucleotides. The monomer is nucleotide

FUNCTIONS

  • Carries genetic information Stores genetic information All foods are nucleic acids
