The Goal
The goal of the Abolitionist movement was to end slavery. (Prentice Hall, page 422)

5 IMPORTANT EVENTS

  • Slavery ends in the north, but not in the south.
  • The colonization movement helped slaves by getting them back to west africa.
  • The second great awaking helped people believe they could control their fate.
  • William Lloyd garrison helped to abolish slavery.
  • The underground railroad helps hundreds of slaves escape. (Prentice hall, pg 422-423)

THE IMPACT

The impact of the abolitionist movement was violent interactions between the north and south. These interactions would lead to the civil war. This points out that slavery was a very debated topic and caused lots of violence. (History.com staff)
