What is a resume?
- A resume is a brief account of a persons education, qualifications, and previous experience.

TYPES OF RESUMES

  • Chronological : focuses on your work history in order
  • Functional : focuses on your skills and experience
  • Combination : lists your skills and experience first, then employment history
  • Targeted : A customized resume (to highlight what you want shown)

WHAT DO I NEED TO PUT INTO A RESUME?

  • Contact info : name, address, phone number, etc..
  • Objective statement : clearly state the purpose of your resume
  • Summary statement : highlight your qualifications
  • Employment history : most efficiently done by chronological order (current job and work backwards) (include dates!!)
  • Education : all educational requirements starting out current and going backwards
  • Other info. : awards received, hobbies, skills, volunteer work

HOW CAN I ORGANIZE A RESUME?

  • Be sure to use bullets
  • Use BOLD words when listing important things
  • Remember correct dates
  • Don't drag on
  • Use a format to help
  • Use headings
  • Be specific
  • Be informative, but professional

Writing a resume may be stressful, but just remember your tips. Remember to be you, and keep it short and straight to the point.
