THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR
The Boston Massacre 1770
The Colonists were mad that the British soldiers were living in their towns and cities. The tension between the soldiers and the colonists' continued. Things were especially tense in the city of Boston. Colonists' showed hatred by teasing the British about their red coats.
The effect of the Boston massacre
Colonists' taunted and insulted the soldiers. Chunks of ice and snowballs were thrown at soldiers. Five men were killed by British soldiers, who misheard there captain yell FIRE!
The Boston Tea Party 1773
After the Boston Massacre the British government put taxes on tea. They made colonists' buy from only The British East India tea company to put local tea sellers out of busines.
As a result...
Colonists' dressed as Natives and snuck on to tea ships in the Boston Harbor. They opened hundreds of boxes and dumped them into the harbor. 90,000 pounds of loose tea was dumped into the water.
The Intolerable Acts 1774
After the Boston Tea Party the colonists' captured the tax collector and forced tea down their throat.
As a result...
The British parliament passed new and harsher laws that stated that the Boston Harbor was closed lots of workers lost their jobs.
