For many people it was a struggle to get to California
The biggest struggle was crossing the Pacific ocean
The mining camps were very unsanitary and diseases also spread
Many people got sick

The gold rush ended in 1852
After it was over terrible diseases were still there which got the Indians very sick
Warfare was also a problem after the gold rush
The population went from 150,000 to 30,00

The mining camps had hardly any women at all
When someone saw a women they immediately asked for bread
Because of the gold rush people started mining for gold I'm other places too
People found gold in Australia, South Africa, and Canada
