PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Zombie Student

by team red
For this unit I have opted to do the presentation on the game of zombie student which is from a past unit.

The game

  • Mobile
  • Freemium
  • Who is it for?
The game itself is zombie student. A first person zombie, survival game for mobile systems. The main objective is to survive rounds of the undead until you are ultimately beaten. The choice for having the game being developed for mobile is that unlike a pc or a console almost everyone owns a mobile phone so the game would be accessible to almost everyone. But why make the app freemium? Well the app to download is going to be free and yes the app will of course be getting money from ads that are placed on it. But in this day and age, you want to make as much money as possible and with most mobile games being freemium such as Candy Crush Saga. We too will be following that trend. The ways that the game is going to be freemium is allowing the players the ability to buy more health so they wouldn't have to wait for a life to go back into the game. They can also buy ammo and guns and camo etc. The game is aimed towards those who want to game on the go and are fans of first person shooters.

Zombie Student

  • Kickstarter
  • Ads, "Lets Players" and social media
  • Play Store (Android) and App Store (iOS)
  • Market Trends
One of the most important aspects is how the game is going to be funded, promoted and distributed?

The game itself is going to be funded by the use of Kickstarter. The choice for using crowd funding as the source of finance for our game is that as a new developer and no previous developed games the money would have to come out of our pockets and we don't have the money to do so. But crowd funding is also an excellent way for us to get a rough estimate of how many people are going to want to play are game.

The game will also be promoted in many ways (The promotion budget will be taken for the many gained from kickstarter). One way and the most generic way the game will be advertised is with ad's. These are going to be ad's that are a seen at the start of YouTube videos, on a webpage, promoted through twitter etc. Depending on the funding we would get we would want "YouTube personality's" or "Lets players" to help promote. Due to the fact that they can reach a massive audience that are interested in games, fast.

Finally due to the game being mobile it will be released on both major mobile systems. That being the Play Store, for android devices and the App Store for iOS apple devices.

The company

  • Small (Team, Game)
  • Job roles
  • Development
The Company/Team, due to it being indie isn't going to be very large. I intend the whole company to be that of ten people. With having six of which working on the game. SO for example we could have three people working on the programming for the game and then the other three working on the look and design, creating the necessary models etc. Whilst the other four will be focused on the business side of things. This will also keep the cost of employees down and the cost of required equipment due to the fact that less employees means less required equipment. The equipment needed will be such items as, industry standard pc's, along with the right peripherals (Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard) Along with software that can be used on these pc's and that would be used on the development of the game e.g. a game engine such as unity and a modelling software like 3dsMax. Software for sound and Photoshop would also be needed. Many of these pieces of software will be bought on a pay per month basis.

Why will people buy it?

  • Gameplay
  • Ease of Use
  • Social Integration
  • Leaderboards and awards
  • Target audience
The game itself is going to be very simple. So its easy for anybody to just pick up and play.

But apart from that, why are people going to want to play. Well nowadays it's all about competition and being better than your friend. So the game is going to feature leader boards and social integration so the player can do just that and then players can post there scores to Facebook and invite there friends to play etc. It will also feature awards/trophies so that's something else for the player to aim towards. This will be easy to do on the Android platform as it has a system to do so.

The target audience for the game is going to be mainly casual mobile gamer's. Those of which play games like Candy Crush Saga and many other popular mobile games. But how it differs from the other popular mobile games
