Beach-a pebbly or sandy shore, especially by the ocean

Wave-a long body of water curling into an arched form and breaking on the shore

Abrasion the wearing away of land and the removal of beach

Wave Refraction-a change in the direction of waves as they pass from one medium to another

Longshore Transport- responsible for the movement of sand and sediment along the coastline

Wave- Cut cliff

Wave cut Platform-he narrow flat area often found at the base of a sea cliff

Sea Arch-a natural opening eroded out of a cliff face by marine processes

Sea Stack- pillarlike mass of rock detached by wave action from a cliff-lined shore and surrounded by water

Spit-narrow coastal land formation that is tied to the coast at one end

Sandbar-A ridge of sand formed in a river or along a shore by the action of waves or currents.

Tombolo- a bar of sand or shingle joining an island to the mainland.

Barrier island-habitable in places, that provides a measure of protection for the mainland, as during hurricanes and tidal waves.

Groin-Shore protection structures which extend from the beach back shore into the surf zone, perpendicular to the shoreline.

Breakwater-a barrier built out into a body of water to protect a coast or harbor from the force of waves.

Seawall-a wall or embankment erected to prevent the sea from encroaching on or eroding an area of land.

Beach nourishment-the process of dumping or pumping sand from elsewhere onto an eroding shoreline to create a new beach or to make it bigger
