TEMPLE

  • Buddhists go to the temple, not at a special time or day, but when they can.
  • A Buddhist temple is called Vihara.
  • A temple is a place for education.
  • It is common for Buddhists to go on a full moon.
  • In a temple, you will find a shrine room w/ a large Buddha.

WHO IS BUDDAH?

  • Buddha is known as a teacher, not a God.
  • Candles & incense sticks are lit & Buddhists recite verses in the Vihara.
  • Buddha was known as Siddharta Gautama
  • A person who is completely free from all faults & mental obstructions.
  • Also means "awakened one"

RESPECT

  • If your born into an Asian family, first thing your learning is respect.
  • If you pick it up quick, your parents will consider it a sign as intelligence.
  • Remove hats and shoes before entering a temple.
  • Turn off phones, remove headphones, & lower your voice.
  • Cover yourself! Wear appropriate clothes to a temple.
