  • The corn symbolizes life and opportunity that he squandered selfishly
  • Later, the corn seed he gorges upon kills him; once again he misses an opportunity and loses his life

  • The wall was his pride
  • It was built to keep out the workers and demonstrate his superiority
  • He sat upon it like throne
  • Eventually, he actually eats the wall,thus swallowing his pride- literally
