What does it take for a kangaroo rat to survive in the grasslands?

Conjecture,
I think the kangaroo rat can survive because it can jump very high.

What it eats,
It eats seeds and sometimes eats plants and some insects.

Creature features/facts,
It can jump up to 9 feet.it can also store food in its cheek pouches.it has the use of "move-freeze" so they can be less conspicuous to nocturnal predators.
