A tsunami is a underwater earthquake that makes a huge waves of water.

How do tsunamis happen?
A earthquake appears at the bottom of the ocean. The a wave of water that is pushed upward, outward, and many other directions. The waters speed when it moves across the ocean, is about 311 to 622 miles per hour.

Why tsunamis happen
Tsunamis mostly happen because of underwater earthquakes. But some happen because of submarine landslides and volcanic eruptions.

Tsunamis happen in the Pacific Ocean, Chile, Aleutian Islands, Alaska, Philippines, andJapan.
