CULTURAL SYMBOLS AND RITUAL PROJECT
-CHRISTMAS-
Is when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is the year to invite Jesus into your heart. Symbols for this holiday are gifts, bells, angels, nativity scene, star, wise men, and Santa Claus.
-THANKSGIVING-
On this day, we give thanks for the blessing of harvest and our families. We express thanks to God for everything he has done for us. Symbols for this holiday are a turkey, cornucopia, pilgrims, pumpkin, cranberry, and corn.
-EASTER-
It is a time we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus gives us eternal life and forgiveness of sins. The significance of this day, shows us that Jesus is the Son of God and is proof God will judge the world in righteousness. Symbols associated with Easter are a bunny, eggs, lamb, cross, Palm branches,and candles.
-MARRIAGE-
The meaning of marriage is love. Finding your soulmate who will love and nourish you till the end of time. Symbols for marriage are rings, unity candle, vail, dove, and white.
-NEW YEARS EVE-
The meaning of New Years's Eve, is to celebrate all you have done that year. And to set a resolution for the new year to come. Symbols for New Years Eve is champagne, fireworks, mistletoe, pomegranates, lentils, and the color red.
-ST. PATRICK'S DAY-
The meaning of St. Patrick's day is, for spiritual regeneration and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide. Also, it is a day to honor and celebrate St. Patrick. Symbols for this holiday are shamrocks, color green, gold, rainbows, leprechauns, and the Celtic cross.
-FOURTH OF JULY-
The meaning of Fourth of July is, to celebrate our freedom and independence. This is a day to thank those who helped America gain freedom. Symbols that symbolize this holiday are the American flag, fireworks, color red, color blue, color white, and the Declaration of Independence.
