DROUGHTS

YOU'LL BE DYING FOR A DRINK AFTER THIS

What is a drought?
A drought is a type of natural disaster when there is a shortage of water, or there is no water.

Definition of a drought
A drought is when water is scarce or depleted. It is caused when there has been no rainfall for years or too much water is used.

Where do they mostly appear?
Droughts are common in hot, dry places, mostly in the southern areas such as Australia, India and Texas.

How destructive is a drought?
Much of our food comes from agricultural farming and if crops have no water, they die and if we have no crops, then we'll eventually starve to death and maybe other animals.

Is that all?
No. With the lack of moisture in the air, wild fires are more likely to form and spread with ease. The trouble continues when the fire stops. Embers float around and will spark a fire on anything flammable, starting the whole process again.

What are the different stages of a drought?
There are five stages of a drought. 0= Abnormally dry, 1= Moderately dry, 2= Severe, 3= Extreme and 4= Exceptional

What can we do to prepare for a drought?
To help prepare for a drought, repair any dripping faucets, get a rain collection system, take quicker showers, store bottled water, avoid starting fires and do not water lawns or wash the car.
