The Persian Empire was a powerful empire from 550 B.C- 522 B.C

The Persian Empire was 2.9 million square miles!

DARIUS (521-486 B.C)

  • Made Persia the largest empire in the world
  • Centralized the administration of the empire
  • Encourage cultural &artistic pursuits
  • Introduced legal reforms
  • Developed juridical systems
  • New capital city called Persepolis

XERXES (486-465 B.C.)

  • Planned the attack on greece
  • Built the army
  • Lead the Artemisium and Thermopylae war to victory
  • Lead the Salamis battle, but lost

IMPACT OF THE PERSIAN EMPIRE ON HISTROY

  • Constant communication with the king and military
  • Created system of roads
  • Created systems of government
  • Spread of culture, religion, government, and art
