THE CICONES

• Odysseus raids the cicones.
• His army is pushed back to sea.

THE LOTUS EATERS

• Curiosity leads Odysseus to the island
• where his men are given lotuses
• which make them forget home and want
• to stay.

THE CYCLOPS

• Odysseus and his men ran out of supplies
• and went to the cyclops for help, he ate
• some of the men, so Odysseus stabbed
• the cyclops' eye and cleverly escaped on sheep.

THE ISLAND OF AEOLUS

• Aeolus,god of the winds gives Odysseus
• a bag of winds to get him home safely.
• His crew disobey orders and open the bag

THE LAESTRYGONIANS

• Gigantic cannibals destroy all but
• Odysseus's ship.

ISLAND OF CIRCE

• Circe turns Odysseus and his men into pigs.

THE LAND OF THE DEAD

• Odysseus wants to find his destiny.
• He talks to a blind prophet.

CIRCE'S ISLAND

• Odysseus receives a warning about
• three obstacles he is about to face.

SIRENS

• Odysseus plugs his mens' ears so they will not hear
• the sirens, he has them tie him to the mast so he
• can not escape. Everyone escapes alive.

SCYLLA & CHARYBDIS

• Odysseus travels by sea. He has two options. Syclla or Charybdis.
• Charybdis sucks up the entire ocean & spits it back out three
• times destroying everything, and Scylla, eats 6 men.
• Odysseus chooses Scylla, and loses some of his best men.

HELIOS

• Odysseus is warned not to eat the sun gods cattle. However, when he was praying, his men
• decided that death by the gods would be better than starvation. They ate the cattle and were
• punished with death.

CALYPSO'S ISLAND

• Calypso decides to hold Odysseus captive,
• but when Zeus finds out, he orders her to let
• him go.

THE LAND OF THE PHAESIANS

• Odysseus washes up on the shore of the
• Phaesians. Athena intervenes and makes sure
• the phaesians help Odysseus get home.
