FACT

It is a statement that tells what actually happened.
A fact can be proven true or false.
Fact: An elephant is gray.
Fact: An elephant weighs about 2000 lbs.
Fact: Elephants live in groups.

OPINION

It is a statement that tells an attitude or judgement.
An opinion cannot be proven true or false.
Opinion: Elephants are mean animals.
Opinion: Elephants do not like humans.
Opinion: I love elephants.
