LOGOS

  • Attempting to persuade someone by using logic
  • Use research
  • Accurate factual information

PATHOS

  • Attempting to persuade people by making them feel good
  • An appeal to an audience's needs, values, or emotions

ETHOS

  • An appeal to ethics
  • An appeal based on the character of the author

AVOIDING BAD LOGIC

  • Important when making an argument
  • Slippery Slope: it will lead to a larger, much, much worse thing happening(not good)
  • Happened first: if one event happens it must lead to the cause of another(not good)
  • I dont like them: someone else is wrong because you dont like them
