PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE PURPLE SPARKLY LLAMAS

DISCOVER INFORMATION ABOUT WATER QUALITY

STUDY SITE AND METHODS

  • The Tualatin Wildlife Refuge
  • We looked at pond water and stream water
  • We tested the dissolved oxygen, temperature and turbidity
  • We used different samples of water and tested each variable
  • To test the quality of the water sources we used prepared chemical tablets

HYPOTHESIS

  • The stream water would have higher dissolved oxygen than the pond.
  • Our reason is the stream is running water

Untitled Slide

TEMPERATURE

  • The higher the temperature the less dissolved oxygen there is
  • In our results we saw that the pond has higher temperature
  • This supports our findings that the pond has lower dissolved oxygen

TURBIDITY

  • High levels of turbidity negatively affect dissolved oxygen
  • This is due to decreased clarity of water increasing the temperature
  • Average for pond: 0.2 JTU
  • Average for stream:0

IN CONCLUSION..

OUR RESULTS SUPPORTED OUR HYPOTHESIS AND WE LEARNED....

CONCLUSION PT.2

  • All three factors are important to water quality.
  • Based on our results, we concluded that the stream appears to have higher water quality
  • This could be due to the fact that the stream is running water and the pond is still water.
