WHITE BLOOD CELLS

  • Produced inside the bone marrow & stored in your blood tissue
  • They are the cells of the immune system
  • Number of the WBC are often an indicator of disease
  • Makes up approximately 1% of the total blood volume

TYPES

  • Six main types of white blood cells
  • All have many things in common, but distinct in form & function
  • Are often characterized as granulocytes or agranulocytes

  • Neutrophils- 58%
  • Eosinophils- 2%
  • Busophils- 1%
  • Bands- 34%

  • Has a short lifespan of one to three days
