5.1 MAIN IDEA PRESENTATION
IMPERIALISM-
When a larger area takes over a smaller area. The reason for imperialism economically was for new markets and raw materials.
Ex: if our school wanted to take over Northwestern, then we would get smaller schools to join with us to make us larger and make the people from Northwestern want to join in with us.
IMPERIALISM & THE BAD
1. Social Darwinism- if you're rich, then it's because you're smarter, not lazy, work hard for it, and if you were poor, then it's because you were lazy and not as smart.
2. Taking land that other people own
3. Depression, strikes, farmers unrest
IMPERIALISM AND THE GOOD
1. Navy would protect trade/spread Christianity.
2. Factories and farmers would be helped, manufactured goods would be produced and shipped.
