IS IT MONOTHEISTIC OR POLYTHEISTIC?

  • Judaism is one of the oldest of the world's monotheistic religions

WHAT IS THEIR RELIGIOUS TEXT?

  • The torah
  • One of there teachings in the torah is thatOne night Abraham climbed
  • Mount Sinai and it is believe that God gave him the 10 Commandments
  • that eventually became part of the Old Testament. The 10 Commandments
  • provided the Jewish people guidelines of how to live their lives.

WHO WAS THE FOUNDER?

  • Abraham is believed to be the father of the Jewish people.
  • According to jewish scripture, God visited Abraham one day and made a
  • Sacred agreement with him. Abraham promised that he and his desendants
  • Would follow god's teachings and God promised to love them.

WHAT IS THERE PLACE OF WORSHIP?

  • Jews worship in synagogues

WHERE DID THE RELIGION ORIGINATE?

  • Religion was originated in jerusalem, Israel
  • Around 3500 years old
  • One of the oldest of the world's monotheistic religions

SPREAD OF THE RELIGION

  • Only nation where Jewish people are the majority of the population
  • The smallest, with only about 12 million followers around the world

TRADITIONS, RITUAL, AND PEOPLE

  • Abraham is believed to be the father of the Jewish people
  • Men and women usually sit separately in the synagogues
  • Men are required to cover their heads with a hat called a yarmulke
  • Moses is the leader who freed the Jews from slavery
