PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ENERGY IN UWCSEA

BY SHREYA G, REON, ISABEL.

SOLAR ENERGY

  • All the heated water from taps in our school comes from the solar panels.
  • 70,000 litres of water evaporated every day in our school.
  • All the indoor heat goes to the cooling tower.
  • The total surface area of all the solar panels in the school 2680m squared.

AIR CON SYSTEMS

  • In our school the air conditioning partly comes from the cooling towers, which collect heat and cools it.
  • The energy to make the air conditioning, the energy that comes from the solar panels goes to the chiller room to cool it and then go to the classes.
  • The air conditioning consumes about 50 percent of the schools electricity bill.

CHILL ROOM

  • If there are any leaks in the pipes in the chill room the system would get shutdown
  • The Chiller uses a mechanical method to cool water.
  • There are three pipes in the chiller room, two of which are used regularly, and the other one during holidays or weekends.

FACTS ABOUT ENERGY IN UWCSEA

  • The water in the chiller room is 7 degrees.
  • All the letters on the pipes are indications of where the energy gets distributed.
  • If a student doesn't get sufficient AC or Fan, it could affect how they learn,

QUESTIONS WE STILL HAVE

  • What specific kinds of energy do we use in our school?
  • How does the amount of energy we use impact other buildings?
  • Why do we have so many solar panels if it is not used for many things?
  • In comparison to the other schools in singapore, how much more energy do we use?
