PURIM

Purim is a holiday that celebrates the deliverance of the Jewish people from the wicked Haman in the days of Queen Esther of Persia.

When is Purim celebrated?

Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of Adar, which is in March.

Special Foods eaten
Purim is a time for "feasting and merrymaking". Sending gifts to one another and presents to the poor. Celebrants dress in costumes have festive parties. One of the foods they make is Hamantaschen. Hamantaschen are three-cornered pastries filled with poppy seeds, fruit preserves,and chocolate.

Traditional Dress
For this holiday Jewish people put masks on and dress from the Purim story.
People of all ages take to the streets, rejoicing with parades, parties, costumes and carnivals.
